In another bowl, beat eggs and sugar until smooth and slightly pale.
Add melted butter, vanilla extract, and milk to the egg mixture and mix well.
Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir until combined.
Pour batter into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
Sprinkle sliced almonds on top if using.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
Let cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
